She Won! She Won!

Wendy Smith, Jodie Kelly and Quick Decision
Wellington, FL - It was another great day for Jodie Kelly Dressage at the USDF Region 3 Dressage Championships!  Only one Championship ride by the JKD team today and, SHE WON! SHE WON!! SHE WON!!!!  Huge congrats to Wendy Smith on her big win in the Third Level AA Championships aboard Quick Decision.  It is so fun having her as a year round Floridian and full time JKD team member.

JKD had a few other national rides today as well.  Katelyn Omas and our own "Nelson" did a warm up 4th Level Test 3 for her championship tomorrow.  She captured first place with a score of 63.333%.  Rocco and Jodie did their very first 4th level test and Rocco was a ROCKSTAR, winning the class with a score of 70.541%.

And then there was Elizabeth Zecca.  This kid, took on one of the most challenging horses in the barn, fell in love with her, and bought her; Brighton Beach.  Brighton challenges her on a regular basis and it is somewhat the norm at a show.  Yesterday it was the stadium as a whole, today it was a tent, but today Elizabeth rode like the professional she has become.  She rode in such a way, that Brighton overcame her fear, stuck to the script of the test and she was the chatter among onlookers at the rail regarding how well she rode.  Jodie said Elizabeth was, "so impressive that I even started to cry when talking to her after her test!  I am just so proud of her."

Caymus had an easy hack day before his Prix St George championship class tomorrow and Grayton had a fabulous lesson with Anne Gribbons.  It was a super day!

Wellington, FL - It was a great first day of showing at the 2017 USDF Region 3 Dressage Championships for Jodie Kelly Dressage.

Caymus tried his heart out in his I-1 Champ class. He had a couple little bobbles, but finished third in a very large, competitive class with a score of 69.934%.  Rocco had a little bit of a bumpy start to his test, but after a bit of a swift "kick in the pants", he decided this was serious business and managed to pull off a 4th place finish and a score of 69.872% in the very large Third Level Championship class.

"I am so incredibly proud of Jodie Kelly and Rocco for yet another amazing year together" said Carol Dover, owner of Rocco.  "They are 7th in the country in 3rd level and ended Regional Finals 4th in a class of nearly fifty."

The Great American/USDF Regional Dressage Championships program is designed to promote and recognize the pursuit of excellence by providing a showcase competition that meets established quality standards for riders within each of the nine USDF regions.   Riders can qualify for the Regional Championships by riding in designated qualifying classes at USDF recognized competitions.

The Regional Championship competitions provide an excellent opportunity for spectators to view the top horses and riders in their region.  The 2017 Championships for Region 3 are being held at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL.

It was a fun day of showing for Jodie Kelly Dressage and Jodie is excited for tomorrow!

SCDCTA Jr/YR Dressage Clinic

SCDCTA Clinic Participants
Jodie Kelly and Elizabeth Zecca
Camden, SC - Jodie has had the privilege of teaching the SCDCTA Jr/Yr clinic a couple of times now.  When Jill Allard emailed her about it this year, the organization had more kids than one clinician could teach and asked if jodie could bring an assistant trainer.  Because of assistant trainer, Luke Mclaughlin and Katelyn Omas' ability to keep the horses worked and lessons going in their absence, Jodie was able to take her other assistant, Elizabeth Zecca, along with her as the second clinician.

"We had a great time, the kids were fantastic, and I was beyond proud to have my little protégée teaching in the ring next to me.  Someone told me, if they stood at EZ's ring and closed their eyes, they would have thought it was me teaching!  So great!" said Jodie.

Jodie could not say enough great things about these kids.  From their rock solid seats and abilities on horse back to being "yes ma'am'd" to death, they were simply a pleasure.   Not to mention when the entire pavilion full of parents, organizers, and wild, happy children all paused to say the blessing before a fantastic BBQ was served.  This was a true southern style clinic.

JKD hopes to do more joint clinics like this!

JKD is Wellington Bound

Co-Pilot #1
Co-Pilot #2
Wellington, FL - JKD is Wellington bound!  We have four horse trailers, three campers, and two cars strung across the Panhandle, and of course, I have my number 1 co-pilot, Raine, riding shotgun!  May this be the best season yet.

When taking long trips, it is best to travel with two co-pilots, so naps can happen.  Cotton is trying her best to fill Raine's shoes, but she can't see over the dashboard
